Treasure City Fashion Show 2008 -

Treasure City Thrift Store is now accepting entries for our 2nd Annual Recycled Fashion Show.

The Show will take place in the first half of October.

This year we are striving for an entirely recycled show. The concept is creative reuse of materials.

We are hoping that each designer can enter a collection of at least 3 outfits that are refashioned out of old clothes. Designers are highly encouraged to look for material (i.e. old clothes and accessories) at Treasure City Thrift Store.

Treasure City will be hosting several artists this Saturday and Sunday (November 17th and 18th) as an unofficial East Austin Studio Tour stop. What: 1st Annual Fashion Show
Where: Treasure City Thrift Store, 1720 East 12th St (@ Salina)

Afterparty: 10pm-2am @ The Rhizome Collective (300 Allen St).

Treasure City Thrift Store (1720 E. 12th St) is having its 1st Annual Fashion show marking its 1 Year Anniversary on Saturday October 13th from 6-9pm. The theme of the show is "Recycled" with designers encouraged to pull material off the racks at the store instead of buying virgin cloth. The fashion show will feature a full runway show with other entertainment by Wino Vino and Snaggletooth Puppet Theater. Free admission.

The Fashion Show Afterparty will be at The Rhizome Collective (300 Allen St) 10PM-2AM and will feature music by Damp Heat, Canopy, Follow That Bird, Sex Advice, and Horse+Donkey. $5 suggested donation for admission.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the Fire Sale and Workday on Saturday, and/or gave donations. We sold or gave away most of our smoky clothes, chatted with our regular customers and met lots of new customers who only heard about Treasure City because of the fire.

The best news is that we will re-open on Monday morning at 11am. We expect to spend most of the week sorting new donations and getting the store re-organized, so if it looks a little haphazard, that's why.

UP IN SMOKE BENEFIT - Saturday 9/15

To help raise money for the store and to celebrate the wonderful community that supports us, we are having a Benefit Show & Party on Saturday, September 15th, 9pm to 2am at the Rhizome Collective Warehouse, 300 Allen Street in East Austin.

Treasure City Thrift Volunteer Orientation

Monday, Dec. 11, 7-8 p.m.

We have been open for over a month now and our second volunteer orientation is right around the corner. If you haven’t been to an orientation yet and are looking for an opportunity to volunteer, join us this coming Monday for an hour of juice, (vegan) cookies and talk about the store. We’ll go over everything you need to know to staff a 3.5 hour shift and we’ll explain our store guidelines and volunteer structure. While we are hoping for volunteers to sign up to staff regular shifts, no one is obligated to make a commitment when they attend the orientation. Thanks and we hope to see you Monday.
